Working Principle
Spring buffers vibration.
In the shock absorber system, the spring is a fundamental component. When a vehicle is driving on an uneven road surface and the wheels are impacted by protrusions and depressions on the road surface, the spring will bear the brunt. It utilizes its own elastic characteristics. When subjected to external compression, it undergoes deformation and converts the kinetic energy of the vehicle into the elastic potential energy of the spring for storage. For example, when a vehicle passes over a pothole, the wheel sinks instantly and the spring is compressed, thereby buffering part of the vibration impact force and preventing the vehicle from experiencing violent jolts due to sudden impacts.

Damper controls spring rebound.
Although the spring can buffer vibrations, relying solely on the spring, the vehicle will continuously bounce up and down under the repeated expansion and contraction of the spring and it is difficult to be stable. At this time, the damper plays a key role. Inside the damper, there is a piston and a cavity filled with specific damping oil. When the spring rebounds after being compressed, the piston moves in the damping oil. Due to the viscosity of the damping oil, the movement of the piston will be hindered by the damping oil, that is, damping force is generated. This damping force is opposite to the expansion and contraction direction of the spring and can consume the energy of the spring's rebound, making the spring rebound slowly and preventing excessive bouncing of the vehicle. For example, after the vehicle passes over a speed bump, during the spring rebound process, the damper will control its rebound speed and allow the vehicle to smoothly return to the normal driving state.
